MASTER OF SCIENCE (PHYSICS)

M.Sc.(Physics)

About Course

M.Sc. (Physics) offered by the department of Physics SoBST, IIMT University, Meerut has experienced and expert faculties in their fields. The academic activities such as seminars, workshops, lecture series and educational tours produce a conducive learning environment in the department. This motivates the students to think differently to achieve high goals in their career. Physics labs are contemporary and provide better practical as well as theoretical knowledge. After completing the M.Sc. (Physics) degree, students develop analytical thinking ability in their specialized subject of Physics. The pedagogies adopted by the Physics department are modern and uses various communication means along with traditional methods. These modern pedagogies help train the students in more practical and interesting way which makes learning of Physics more feasible for even relatively weaker students. NPTEL and SWAYAM are included as part of the curriculum. One main part of the curriculum is review or project writing in the last semester.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEO)

  • PEO-1 The Objective of the Master of Science is to help students become highly skilled, versatile, independent thinkers with the research experience, information literacy, communication, and interpersonal skills necessary for an advanced professional career or further academic study at the Ph.D. level.

Program Outcomes (PO’s)

  • PO1:  Students will have knowledge of fundamental laws and principles in various fields of physics along with their applications.
  • PO2:  Students will develop research skills which may include advanced laboratory techniques, numerical techniques, computer algebra, and computer interfacing.
  • PO3:  Students will become effective researchers capable of providing a clear summary of the scientific literature on a given topic of study.
  • PO4:  Students will develop the skills to plan, execute and report the results of an extended experimental or theoretical physics-based project in a research environment.

Programme Specific Outcome (PSO's)

  • PSO1:  Students will understand the basic concepts of physics, especially classical concepts.
  • PSO2: Students will learn to perform experiments in basic as well as some advanced areas of physics such as nuclear physics, electronics, and lasers.
  • PSO3:  The program develops analytical and integrated problem-solving Approach
